Team BlueStreak: Stepmania StepMix Entry /==== Team BlueStreak ====/ Team BlueStreak is composed of: BLueSS: Main organizer for the DDR OSC competitions held at Bemanistyle.com and creator of the IIDX:Tournament Edition at Outphase.com; and I live in Seattle, Washington - home to the main ITG team. I've visited with a few of them (Foy and Kyle) on several occasions. I'm Currently attending the University of Washington and I've played DDR for well over 5 years. Solon Halwinder: I'm just your average stepper and forum-goer from Bemanistyle. My experience in stepping is pretty good; I've completed at least 70 charts, including both original simfiles and edits for official files, over the course of about two years. Most of the time, I do pad charts, though I delve into keyboard occasionally. As of this writing, I live on-campus at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH, and with my parents in Republic, Ohio during vacations. I have two years, eight months experience with DDR, about two years, six months experience with Stepmania, and about one year, six months experience with Pump It Up. /==== The Song: Frozen Flame - KaW ====/ Ah, a song that would fit well into ITG... must have something to do with the fact that KaW is one of ITG's lead composers. He also has almost as many aliases as Naoki. ;) Solon: I started stepping this back in November, before the Stepmix contest was announced. When it was, I decided to ask KaW's permission to use this for my entry. After I got it, I noticed that in the Bemanistyle thread regarding the contest that BLueSS was looking for someone to partner with, so I PM'd him about it, and the rest is, as they say, history. BLueSS: We originally had two other songs that were were going to enter as well, but we had a hard enough time trying to find the time to finish this one properly. /==== Graphics ====/ Created by BLueSS. Basically it's a free stock image of some flame I found at www.sxc.hu and played around with until it looked like the flame was frozen. Kaw image generously borrowed from the ITG 1 banners. The background originally was just black, but I texturized a nice greyish blue to make it easier on the eyes. The font used was "Chilled" found from a free font site. /==== Step Charts ====/ == DDR Single == Basic - 4: BLueSS - The song didn't feel like a 1 or 2 foot chart would fit, so I went with making a 3 foot chart that ended up being a 4 instead. There are some corner jumps at the end, and I felt that it pretty much remained a nice, simple chart that would keep beginners happy with a nice challenge. Standard - 6: BLueSS - This chart was made to go with the main melody of the chorus. Nothing extraordinarly special except for a fun chart with 4th adn 8th notes. Heavy - 9: BLueSS - This one has repeating steps in several spots, and some players like them, but a lot don't; mainly because they are harder to hit than normal arrows. Offers pleanty of variety in patterns and should be a nice challenge. Challenge - 10: Solon Halwinder - This is pretty much standard fare for me. Lots of runs, some isolated steps, some hand hits...typical ITG. Edit - 11: Solon Halwinder - I felt like making a really hard pad/easy keyboard stepchart, so that's what this is. Lots of 16th runs, some advanced crossovers, some more hands. == DDR Double == Basic - 3: BLueSS - Umm, yeah. Pretty basic if you ask me. Standard - 6: BLueSS - Freezes. It isn't that complicated to hit them, you just have to make sure you don't do any abnormal stepping. Speedmod might help for those who can't read 1x well. Heavy - 9: BLueSS - P1 UP, P2 UP, PU 1, P2 UP? Yeah. and I'm only 5'6" and I can hit them fine, so unless your a minor or a short midget, please don't complain. == Syncing == BLueSS: There was only so much syncing I could do on it, so I asked Hellrazor from DDRExtreme.co.uk, a very anal person about a song's sync, to fix it up a little. He did a great job, and the file should be right on.
